November 2019 Athlete Of The Month

Meet Odette Saglimbini…

"I was hesitant to do the trial membership during our health challenge because I had always heard bad things about Crossfit, e.g. people get hurt easily. To be honest, I never thought I would be one to do the Crossfit workouts, or even join a gym (my husband likes to call me “skinny fat”). I wouldn’t go to any other Crossfit gym because it’s not like 926. The people/coaches there truly have a passion for it and have your best interest at heart.

As I previously mentioned, I prefer the Spark classes. I believe Brandi has done a great job modifying it for those that aren’t particularly interested in doing all of the Crossfit movements, even though what she does is very similar. Although, I have to say, when I see her pulling out those “assault bikes” I want to turn around and get back in my car!"

As part of being Athlete of the Month, we asked Odette a few questions to get to know her a little more, below are her answers:

1. Where are you from?
Originally from NY, but I grew up in Greenville, SC.

2. What do you do for a living?
I currently work for the Huntersville Police Department.

3. Favorite hobbies?
I enjoy playing golf, which doesn’t happen much between work and 3 kids. I also like to venture out to different breweries.

4. Athletic Background?
I played soccer all my life and partially into college. I also played basketball through high school.

5. Why you chose CrossFit 926? .
We had a trial membership as part of our health challenge at HPD. After the challenge was over, I continued to go because I loved the coaches and environment there!

6. Favorite movement?
I wouldn’t say I have a favorite movement, but the one I dislike the least is probably kettlebell swings.

7. Favorite thing about CrossFit 926?
I really enjoy the people there, but I have to say, I really enjoy the Spark classes (as much as I may dread the workout at times). Brandi has done an excellent job with that class and for those that aren’t necessarily into doing all of the Crossfit movements.

8. What advice would you give to a new comer?
It never gets easy, but it’s worth it and the coaches are great!
