Iron To Boost Your Immune System

Need a boost to your immune system? Vitamin C is not the only nutrient that plays a role in your immune system. There are a variety of different vitamins and minerals that can help you stay healthy during these crazy times. Today we are talking about IRON!

Iron helps your body carry oxygen to cells. This plays a huge role in the immune system processes. Our body tightly regulates Iron metabolism to avoid having too much in our system, but also too little. Most individuals do not get enough iron in their diets especially women (who require slightly more).

I am not saying when you feel like you are getting sick you need to take a supplement right away, but make sure you are eating a diet with iron rich foods. Some of these include:

  • Red Meat
  • Chicken
  • Turkey
  • Oysters
  • Mussels
  • Beans, Broccoli, and kale also have a lot of iron in them!

You can also pair these items with Vitamin C rich foods that will help your body absorb the iron better!
